Following the 1st public consultation phase on the Ethical BioTrade standard which closed in January 2011, the 2nd public consultation took place from July 15th to December 5th 2011.
The public consultation allowed UEBT's stakeholders to comment on the revised standard, its criteria and indicators. Details of comments received and modifications made in the first phase can be found in this document. Details of comments received and modifications made in the second phase will be published by the UEBT Secretariat in the first semester of 2012.
You will find below the PDF of the Draft Revised Standard (STD01 – D1 – Ethical BioTrade Standard – 2011-05-04) in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French. that was under consultation for the 2nd public consultation phase. The revised standard is used in all up-coming third party audits.

The Union for Ethical BioTrade is a member of ISEAL Alliance (International Social and Environmental Accreditation and Labelling) and the Ethical BioTrade Standard has been designed in accordance with its requirements as well as those of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
These requirements include the need to periodically review the standard and ensure wide stakeholder involvement during the review process. In line with these requirements, UEBT holds two rounds of public consultations.
Changes in the standardization process
While going through the public consultations, the UEBT Secretariat had the opportunity to learn more about standard revision process. Following this experience and to ensure a well-balanced process, the UEBT Secretariat modified the standardization procedure (PRO06) and the Terms of Reference of the UEBT Standard Committee (GOV08). The main modifications focused on stakeholder balance and the approval phase of the revised standard as detailed in the documents below.
