Talking about our partnership
Your work with UEBT can be technical and difficult to explain to clients and other stakeholders. We have developed approved message templates to help with this.
First, UEBT core ideas are:
… sourcing with respect
…with respect for people and biodiversity
…for a world in which people and biodiversity thrive
Second, we are UEBT:
We no longer spell out our acronym. Just call us UEBT.
There is no need to put “the” before UEBT.
You can refer to our standard as the Ethical BioTrade standard or as just the UEBT standard. They are the same thing.
UEBT is a non-profit association that promotes sourcing with respect. They support and verify companies’ commitments to innovation and sourcing that contribute to a world in which people and biodiversity thrive. Learn more about UEBT at www.ethicalbiotrade.org
We are contributing to a world in which people and biodiversity thrive. We partner with UEBT, a non-profit organisation supporting and verifying company commitments to sourcing with respect.
UEBT began as a United Nations initiative. It maintains strong partnerships with UN organisations such as the Convention on Biological Diversity and the UNCTAD BioTrade Initiative. UEBT is internationally recognised for its work advancing business contributions to sustainable development goals. Learn more at www.ethicalbiotrade.org
UEBT sets good practices for how companies and their suppliers source natural ingredients.
UEBT standards are used to independently check that good practices are systemically applied.
Companies that commit to UEBT standards show they are acting according to ethical principles and meeting strict requirements in their supply chains. These requirements include sustainable use of biodiversity, fair and equitable benefit sharing, local development and labour rights.
Sourcing with respect
We are a member of UEBT. They have verified our commitment to sourcing with respect for people and biodiversity.
UEBT membership means that we have made a commitment to continuous improvement and to sourcing with respect for people and biodiversity.
Farms and sourcing areas
A variety of herbs, flowers, roots, seeds, fruits and bark are used in beauty, food and health products, often as active ingredients, oils, fragrances or flavours. These ingredients can be harvested from small family farms or collected from the wild by local people.
Working with UEBT, we have committed to improve our sourcing of natural ingredients so that it adheres to standards on sustainable use of biodiversity, fair and equitable benefit sharing, local development and labour rights.
How we collect, grow and use natural resources has profound implications for our living planet. Our company has committed to standards set by the non-profit UEBT. This means we are improving how we source natural ingredients with respect for people and biodiversity.
You can help protect the Earth by choosing brands that source natural ingredients with respect for people and biodiversity.
You can support people and biodiversity by choosing brands that source natural ingredients with respect.
Biodiversity is the variety of plants, animals and other living creatures on Earth. From the smallest micro-organism to the largest mammal, biodiversity forms a web of life, creating the ecosystems we live in and depend upon for our survival, and supplying us with food, water, medicine and many other vital ecological services.
